Just a few days prior to the launching of her eye-catching and eyebrow-raising billboard ad, Lovie was embroiled in intrigue and was all over the news as she was spotted in Hong Kong with Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson. Rumors linked the young female actor-singer to the much older and himself ever controversial Chavit. Lovie later went on to explain her Hong Kong appearance as an expression of support for Chavit's son, Ilocos Sur Representative Ronald Singson who was in jail in Hong Kong for alleged possession of Cocaine. She claimed she and the younger Singson are "very close friends."
